Course Description

We all carry around wounds, behaviors and beliefs about ourselves and others form our earliest attachments, which direct our lives. Research shows that when people fail to make sense of their past, they find themselves reliving and recreating it.. Presentation will focus on methods for helping clients create coherent narratives of early attachment trauma. This allows them to develop a sense of inner security through resolving unresolved trauma. It will integrate findings from attachment research, Interpersonal Neurobiology and separation theory.

Dr. Firestone will draw upon the latest research and outline the process of writing a coherent narrative. latest findings in neurobiology show that when a person writes a coherent narrative, they rewire their brain to feel more secure within themselves and their relationship. Creating a coherent narrative also contributes to developing earned secure attachment.

Instructor

Lisa Firestone Ph.D.

is a Clinical Psychologist and the Director of Research and Education at the Glendon Association and Senior Editor at PsychAlive.org. She is the author of numerous articles and book chapters and coauthor of the books Self Under Siege, Conquer Your Critical Inner Voice, and Creating a Life of Meaning and Compassion.

Dr. Firestone is a national and international trainer and presenter on topics including couple relationships, attachment, suicide and violence prevention assessment and treatment.

Lisa has been involved in clinical training and research in the areas of suicide and violence which resulted in the development of the assessments Firestone Assessment of Self-destructive Thoughts (FAST) and (FASI) and the Firestone Assessment of Violent Thoughts (FAVT) for adults and adolescents.

Lisa Firestone is a clinical psychologist in private practice and consultant on the management of high-risk clients.

About This Webinar

The webinar is a live, interactive class. You will view the webinar in real time from your home or office on a computer, tablet (e.g., iPad) or phone. You will be able see the speaker and the slides, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and respond to polls. You will have access to the handouts, which you can view on your computer or download and print.

You will need to show up on time to receive credit, just like at an in-person class, but you can wear whatever you’d like! The class will run from 10am to 1:15pm Pacific Time. There will be a morning and afternoon break and a break for lunch. At the end of the class you will need to take a post-test and receive a score of 75% or above to pass. You have up to three attempts to pass the post-test. Most people pass on their first attempt. After two attempts to pass the post-test you will need to contact our office and you will be provided with one more attempt to pass the post-test. The post-test will only be available at the end of the class. Once you pass the post-test, you will complete an evaluation online and then you will receive your Certificate of Attendance online, which you can view and print.

Cancellation Policy

There is a $35.00 processing fee, per seminar, for refunds requested by the Wednesday prior to the weekend of the webinar. After that time, there will be no refunds. If a course must be cancelled due to an unforeseen event (e.g., natural disaster, instructor illness), the webinar will be rescheduled. Participants will be credited to take the rescheduled course or another PPS webinar. No refunds will be given.
