Course Description
Patients frequently report symptoms related to anxiety, eating, and body image concerns, but do not meet criteria for formal diagnoses. Being well-versed in gold standard treatment approaches that address these kinds of suffering is critical for clinicians who maintain general practices. This webinar will start by discussing definitions and how to assess these related concerns. Next will be a discussion of how to incorporate theory and models including (1) guided self-help for binge eating; (2) cognitive behavior therapy for bulimia; and (3) cognitive behavior therapy for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder. Most of the webinar will be spent discussing goals, planning for treatment, and implementing interventions with case examples. While specific symptoms will be addressed, attention will be paid to their potential meaning and function as it relates to the entire person experiencing these challenges.
