Course Description
This webinar focuses on how to effectively integrate techniques from a wide variety of evidenced-based schools of psychotherapy. Based on Dr. Bishop’s recently published book Modern Integrative Counseling and Psychotherapy: A Step-by-Step Approach (2024), this class will guide clinicians on how to systematically and sequentially integrate multiple research-based approaches in psychotherapy and treatment planning. The course will address practical ways that clinicians can incorporate research from neuroscience, genetics, and mindfulness, and provide examples of ways to structure sessions and utilize strategic homework between sessions. There will be a discussion on ways to integrate alternative activities, including religious practices and other healing methods.
Instructor
F. Michler Bishop Ph.D.
is in private practice in New York City after retiring from the Albert Ellis Institute, where he worked closely with Dr. Ellis for over twenty years, running groups and workshops. He is the author of Modern Integrative Counseling and Psychotherapy (2024), upon which this webinar is based. During his long career, he has advocated for a compassionate, goal-focused modern therapeutic approach, integrating a variety of research-based treatment options with healing techniques and activities that a client has found helpful in the past. The overall objective is to create a unique therapy for each client. He has conducted numerous workshops on CBT, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), MI and SMART Recovery in the United States and internationally. He currently works with clients looking for solutions to anxiety and mood disorders, relationship issues and impulse control problems.
