Course Description

This innovative class provides clinicians with the neuroscience based techniques for successful anxiety treatment. Dr. Donarski will provide brain-based strategies for calming the anxious mind with client communication techniques which will motivate your clients, promote adherence to treatment, and strengthen the therapeutic alliance. You will learn how to (1) identify and treat the roots of anxiety in both the amygdala and the cortex; (2) explain “the language of the amygdala;” and (3) empower clients with strategies to resist anxiety-igniting cognitions. Learn how neuroplasticity will work for you and your anxious clients to successfully reduce anxiety!

Instructor

Janene M. Donarski Ph.D., LP, LMSW

is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Licensed Master Social Worker who provides psychotherapy as well as psychological testing for mental health issues. Dr. Donarski specializes in neuropsychological assessment of children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric populations including head injury, organic issues, emotional, and complex behavior disorders. Dr. Donarski works extensively with anxiety issues including panic, OCD, trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). She is the author of Anxiety & Trauma Recovery Book: Using a Neuroscience-Informed Treatment Response to Healing.

Dr. Donarski trains other clinicians in the treatment of behavioral issues, techniques of relaxation, reduction of fear, and exposure therapies to reduce triggers and symptoms in daily life. She also assists in testing within the academic areas including Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), learning disabilities and autism for Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and/or 504 plans/behavior plans. Dr. Donarski works with all populations in counseling/therapy, including individual, marital/couple, family, geriatric, LGBTQ, and group counseling. Dr. Donarski is also experienced in working with victims of violence, foster care/adoption issues, sexual issues, as well as those who are seeking neuroscience-based treatment. She often works with attorneys as a forensic psychologist/expert witness for legal cases involving custody, guardianship, social security benefits, and criminal cases.

Dr. Donarski has spoken on a variety of mental health issues, including somatic ailments, behavioral disorders, and mental health concerns such as personality disorders, anxiety, trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, and dementia care. Dr. Donarski has worked in private practice for over 20 years, as well as within assisted living and nursing homes, and contracted with the state to work with the visually impaired.

 

About This Webinar

The webinar is a live, interactive class. You will view the webinar in real time from your home or office on a computer, tablet (e.g., iPad) or phone. You will be able see the speaker and the slides, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions and respond to polls. You will have access to the handouts, which you can view on your computer or download and print.

You will need to show up on time to receive credit, just like at an in-person class, but you can wear whatever you’d like! The class will run from 9am to 4pm Pacific Time. There will be a morning and afternoon break and a break for lunch. At the end of the class you will need to take a post-test and receive a score of 75% or above to pass. You have up to three attempts to pass the post-test. Most people pass on their first attempt. After two attempts to pass the post-test you will need to contact our office and you will be provided with one more attempt to pass the post-test. The post-test will only be available at the end of the class. Once you pass the post-test, you will complete an evaluation online and then you will receive your Certificate of Attendance online, which you can view and print.

Registration Information

The course fee is determined by the date of payment in relation to the course date:

  • Early Registration: If payment is received 3 weeks prior to the webinar date.
  • Regular Registration: For payments received less than 3 weeks prior to the webinar date.

Cancellation Policy

There is a $35.00 processing fee, per seminar, for refunds requested by the Wednesday prior to the weekend of the webinar. After that time, there will be no refunds. If a course must be cancelled due to an unforeseen event (e.g., natural disaster, instructor illness), the webinar will be rescheduled. Participants will be credited to take the rescheduled course or another PPS webinar. No refunds will be given.
