Course Description
The incidence of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Asperger's Syndrome (AS) has increased exponentially in the past two decades. Mental health professionals need to learn more about what features to look for, how to diagnose, and importantly, how to treat children with autism or Asperger's Syndrome in both children and adults. This seminar will present procedures on how to diagnose and evaluate children with ASD and AS, along with state of the art, evidence-based treatment procedures. The treatment procedures will focus on those that are for higher functioning children with autism and AS children and adults. There will be demonstrations of treatment techniques, short video clips, and resource materials to take home.
