This course provides a comprehensive review of assessment and treatment methods for conduct disorders, and summarizes the research literature on the effectiveness of different treatment approaches. Information is provided on how to assess conduct disorders using a variety of methods and instruments. The course reviews treatment using behavioral, cognitive, family therapy, group therapy, psychodynamic and biological approaches and evaluates the effectiveness of each approach. The appendix includes a list of resources for clinicians and nearly 200 references.

Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to identify: (1) the criteria used to diagnose conduct disorders; (2) assessment strategies and techniques for assessing conduct disorders; (3) different approaches to treat conduct disorders and their relative effectiveness; and (5) the role of medication in treatment.
