Course Description
Recent advances in the neurosciences have increased our knowledge of how and why people change. This seminar will examine which aspects of prevailing theoretical orientations are therapeutic and which ones are counter-therapeutic. Brain-Based Therapy synthesizes neuroscience, evidence-based treatment, and attachment theory into a hybrid therapeutic model. Using this model, treatment strategies for depression and anxiety disorders will be examined, as well as PTSD and OCD. Participants will develop a new way of conceptualizing the therapeutic process and move beyond the traditional theoretical school approach.
