Course Description
This course reviews how to assess ADHD from infancy through adulthood, along with the different assessment techniques that can be used to diagnose ADHD and differentiate ADHD from other psychological disorders. The use of stimulant drugs to treat ADHD receives considerable attention, along with other forms of drug treatment. Cognitive and behavioral treatment approaches for ADHD are examined as well. Resources for professionals are cited, as well as resources for parents, teachers and ADHD children.
OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to: (1) describe appropriate assessment techniques to diagnose ADHD; (2) Identify target behaviors that are most effected by stimulant drugs; and (3) describe behavioral management principles for use with parents, teachers, and children.
